Fees & Rebates

We are a private billing practice and from 1 July 2015 the fee is $220 for a standard session of 50 minutes, payable on the day of your consultation.  Shorter or longer sessions are charged proportionately less or more. No charge is made for telephone time to clear up homework problems. Payments may be made by cheque, cash, EFTPOS, Mastercard or Visa.  We can accept credit card payments by phone.

If you have Ancillary Cover with a private health insurance fund, you may claim a rebate for Clinical Psychology services.  Clients should contact their health fund provider for the latest rebate rates, quoting the item code for an individual consultation of AO70, for HBF clients the code is Y200 and BUPA P200.

If your account remains unpaid after 14 days we will attempt to contact you. Outstanding accounts unpaid after 30 days are referred to our lawyer for collection. A legal and administration fee is added to your account to cover our initial costs referring the matter to our lawyer.

To be eligible for a Medicare rebate, visit your GP and discuss your concerns. Ask for a long appointment when you make the booking as your GP will complete an assessment to determine whether you meet the Medicare criteria. If your GP determines that you do and would benefit from psychological services, your GP will write you a referral for 6 appointments with a mental health practitioner.

After the 6 appointments are completed, the mental health practitioner will write a report to the GP and you must see the GP again to be eligible for more rebates.

We ask that you pay the full fee on the day and we are able to process your Medicare rebate if you can provide us with a Debit card and your Medicare Card.

If you fail to keep your appointment without giving any notice, the full session fee will be charged.

If you want to change or cancel an appointment, we require one full working days notice, to give us reasonable time to fill that time slot. Our “working days”, when the Receptionist is in attendance, are Tuesday to Friday, from 9.00am - 4.00pm.  The practice phone (08) 9330 4797 is on telephone message bank at all other times, and messages are not collected until 9.00am the next working day.

Cancellations or changes, left on the telephone message bank, will be deemed to have been made at the start of the next working day.

Occasionally people are prevented from keeping an appointment because of sudden illness or unexpected emergencies. If this happens to you, please contact the rooms or leave a message on the telephone message bank, as soon as possible.  If you do not notify us of your inability to attend before your scheduled time, we will treat your non-arrival as a broken appointment, and the standard fee will apply.

SERVICES PAID BY A THIRD PARTY (Worker's Compensation or MVA)
If you were referred under Worker’s Compensation or Motor Vehicle Accident insurance our practice is to bill direct to the insurer, but you are still ultimately responsible for meeting your account.  Thus it is important that you ensure that (1) you provide a referrral from your GP, (2) your claim has been accepted by the insurer, and (3) that they will pay for psychological services.  If these conditions are not met, the account will be your responsibility.

Please note that insurance companies will not cover fees for short notice cancellations and missed appointments, which will be charged to the individual, at the standard rate.

Workcover have set a fee per standard consultation, and this is normally paid by the insurer. If there are additional fees, for example, CDs to assist in your therapy, extensive photocopying, they may not cover these. Any gap is payable by yourself.
